About the Role

We are seeking a talented R&D Manager for Nuclear Security Systems to join our team at Sandia National Laboratories. This role offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while leading innovative projects that contribute to national security. As an R&D Manager, you will oversee the design and development of cutting-edge nuclear security systems, ensuring that we stay ahead of global security challenges.

What You'll Do

• Lead a technical team in the development of advanced nuclear security systems, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
• Conduct technical evaluations and analyses for lifecycle management of new security system designs, collaborating with internal and external experts.
• Oversee the creation and application of scientific theories and engineering methods to develop new designs and systems.
• Manage a portfolio of nuclear security projects across various DOE/NNSA sites in the United States.
• Interact with high-level customers in the DOE/NNSA, ensuring their needs are met through effective program management.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and at least eight years of experience in R&D management.
• DOE Q clearance or equivalent required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical teams and projects.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Expertise in national security issues, cyber threats, and advanced security technologies.

Nice to Have

• A graduate degree (MS or Ph.D.) in science or engineering.
• Experience with project management methodologies, such as PMP certification.
• Knowledge of DOE/NNSA policies and regulations.
