Professor of Paediatrics - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Professor of Paediatrics to join the University of Basel. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead as Chief Physician of Paediatrics at the University Children’s Hospital Basel (UKBB) while contributing to high-quality paediatric clinical care and academic excellence. As a Professor of Paediatrics, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of paediatric medicine in Switzerland and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Lead and ensure high-quality paediatric clinical care at UKBB and throughout the region.
• Strengthen the national and international visibility of paediatrics through your clinical expertise and research background.
• Inspire and develop the next generation of paediatric academics through outstanding university teaching and mentorship.
• Secure and further develop the training of paediatric residents and senior physicians in accordance with SIWF requirements.
• Foster a stimulating research environment by leading a paediatric research group and encouraging innovative thinking.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance research and clinical practices.
• Assume the role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) based on qualifications and institutional needs.

Requirements

• Broad experience across all areas of paediatrics with outstanding clinical expertise in at least one subspecialty.
• Successful track record of independent research, including competitive third-party funding acquisition.
• Habilitation or equivalent academic qualification is essential.
• Proven leadership experience in an academic environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster an attractive working environment.
• Very good knowledge of the German language is required.
