Production Engineer - Packaging Operations

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Production Engineer to join our team at CooperSurgical, focusing on Packaging Operations. This Production Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading manufacturer of soft contact lenses, helping to improve the way people see every day.

What You'll Do

• Provide technical expertise, process, production, and project engineering support to Operations departments to meet business objectives.
• Lead small problem-solving teams and participate in international activities across the business.
• Appraise, specify, develop, commission, validate, and test new and existing automated production systems and equipment.
• Conduct safety compliance assessments, capability studies, and validation programs in accordance with medical device regulatory requirements.
• Implement process improvements to optimize productivity, yield, and quality while adhering to change control requirements.
• Report against objectives, including design/milestone reviews, presentations, monthly reports, and key performance indicator monitoring.
• Initiate improvement activities, providing detailed commercial benefits.
• Travel to global sites for short periods as required, with ample notice.

Requirements

• Engineering apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering.
• Bachelor's degree, HNC, or HND in Engineering or Science.
• Experience troubleshooting fault diagnosis on automated machinery.
• Working knowledge of carton lasers, thermal printers, and labeling equipment.
• Familiarity with vision system inspection and barcode readers.
• Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• High-speed process engineering and optimization experience.
• Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and understanding of cGMP and Process Validation.
• Project Management experience and professional institute associate member level or equivalent.

Nice to Have

• Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
• Familiarity with automated production lines.
