About the Role

We are seeking a skilled NOC (Network Operations Centre) Technician to join our team at Serco Space Services. This NOC Technician role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting critical space missions while collaborating with engineers and external agencies. As a NOC Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring operational efficiency and reliability in our network operations. This position is based in Darmstadt, Germany, and remote opportunities are available for qualified candidates.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate operational support activities, liaising with spacecraft and mission operations engineers.
  • Monitor station configurations and data transmissions to ensure performance meets operational standards.
  • Act as the first point of contact for users, providing troubleshooting and incident management support.
  • Log and escalate incidents, ensuring timely resolution and communication with stakeholders.
  • Perform first-line fault analysis and maintenance of network components using Ethernet and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Maintain detailed logs of operational activities, incidents, and resolutions to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide around-the-clock operational support in a rotating shift pattern.
  • Contribute to process and technical improvements to enhance service quality.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of IT networking, including WAN/LAN concepts and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in PC literacy, including MS Office products.
  • Ability to perform first-line fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of IT security concepts and best practices.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
  • Availability to work in 24/7 shifts.
  • Strong service ethic and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Team-player skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with remote operations of satellite ground stations.
  • Understanding of ESTRACK ground station functionality.
  • Knowledge of ITSM tools and ITIL framework.
  • Familiarity with VMS, Unix, Console Works, and CISCO Firewalls.
