About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Monitor Technician - Remote to join our team at Antelope Valley Medical Center. In this role, you will be responsible for the ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors, ensuring that any changes in cardiac rhythms are promptly communicated to RNs and clinicians. This is a part-time position that offers the flexibility of remote work while playing a crucial role in patient care.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain ongoing, high-level surveillance of patient cardiac rhythms and notify nursing staff of any changes.
  • Measure and interpret patient heart rhythms, documenting findings according to departmental standards.
  • Perform clerical duties related to patient admissions, discharges, and documentation from Central Telemetry.
  • Communicate effectively with unit personnel regarding changes in patient rhythm.
  • Orient and mentor new staff members, serving as a resource for training and troubleshooting.
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments, adjusting as necessary based on changing situations.
  • Adhere to confidentiality protocols regarding patient and staff information.
  • Develop cooperative relationships with nursing and clinical staff, responding to their requests and questions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the Basic Dysrhythmia test with a minimum of 90% accuracy.
  • Minimum one year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and clinicians.

Nice to Have

  • Previous Monitor Technician experience greater than one year preferred.
