Mid-Senior Cloud and Kubernetes Architect - HIPAA Compliance

About the Role

We are seeking a Mid-Senior Cloud and Kubernetes Architect to join our team at BioSpace. This Cloud and Kubernetes Architect remote position is pivotal in designing, implementing, and scaling a HIPAA-compliant AWS environment that will host patient-facing applications in a highly regulated environment. You will be responsible for architecting secure cloud infrastructure, deploying Kubernetes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Architect and lead deployment of HIPAA-compliant AWS infrastructure.
• Define and enforce cloud infrastructure standards, patterns, and best practices across teams.
• Implement encryption at rest and in transit, audit logging, and access controls aligned with HIPAA requirements.
• Lead technical delivery of infrastructure components, addressing risk, privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance constraints.
• Design and implement Kubernetes clusters in regulated environments with a strong security posture.
• Apply and review Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform/Pulumi.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence in cloud, Kubernetes, and AI.
• Drive innovation by prototyping new infrastructure capabilities and evaluating emerging technologies.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience delivering cloud solutions across the full lifecycle (design, deployment, operations).
• 5+ years of technical leadership experience in cloud infrastructure projects.
• Deep expertise in AWS services.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements (BAAs, encryption, audit logging, access controls).
• Production experience running Kubernetes in regulated environments.
• Experience implementing Kubernetes security (pod/network policies, secrets management, container scanning).
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.

Nice to Have

• Experience with service mesh architectures (Istio, ambient, etc.).
• Familiarity with GxP validation processes in healthcare or pharma.
• Hands-on experience with identity management.
• Familiarity with GitHub, Jira/Confluence, and modern collaboration toolsets.
• Demonstrated ability to propose and implement innovative infrastructure solutions.
