This Medical Billing and Coding Training Program is designed to equip you with the skills necessary to thrive in the healthcare industry. As a participant, you will learn about health insurance, coding, and reimbursement processes, preparing you for a rewarding career in this essential field.
What You'll Do
- Engage in comprehensive online classroom training covering health insurance and multiple healthcare settings.
- Participate in a remote internship to gain hands-on experience in medical billing and coding.
- Complete an externship for practical training in a real-world environment.
- Become familiar with key coding systems including CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II.
- Prepare for industry-recognized certifications such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
Requirements
- Must be a resident of California and live within 30-45 minutes of Oakland.
- Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial.
- Ability to pass a national criminal background check.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with California billing practices.

- A total stipend of $31,200 distributed over approximately 44 weeks.
- Monthly Health Marketplace reimbursement up to $600.
- Internet stipend of $35/month for 44 weeks.
