About the Role

We are seeking a Manager, Distribution Design - Remote to join our innovative team at FirstEnergy. This role involves managing and directing Utility Operations Engineering Services activities for the distribution function, focusing on Engineering Design and New Customer Service Requests for Engineering Services in New Jersey. As a leader, you will drive continuous improvement and ensure high safety standards in our operations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and direct the engineering services team, ensuring accountability for performance and results.
  • Oversee complex engineering analysis related to distribution design and construction, ensuring reliability and effective distribution planning.
  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the business unit.
  • Manage customer service requests and ensure timely responses to regulatory complaints.
  • Support capital portfolio management with accurate estimates and project plans.
  • Encourage open communication and collaboration among utility operations and corporate support groups.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge of your team through coaching and feedback.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and strengthen relationships with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; Professional Engineer’s (PE) License is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in engineering design, reliability, and system planning.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a thorough understanding of electrical utility distribution system design.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and the National Electric Safety Code.
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to driving positive change.

Nice to Have

  • Professional engineering (PE) certification.
  • Experience with construction and material standards.
  • Knowledge of asset management and joint use processes.
