Maintenance Technician - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team at Beneficial Insectary. This Maintenance Technician role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our facility, which focuses on creating optimal environments for beneficial insects. As a Maintenance Technician, you will perform routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain a safe and functional environment for both staff and insects.

What You'll Do

• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and maintenance on facility equipment, including HVAC systems, lighting, and humidity control equipment.
• Regularly check environmental controls, such as temperature and humidity systems, to ensure optimal conditions for insect habitats.
• Identify and resolve issues with machinery, electrical systems, plumbing, and other facility systems.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests, including occasional after-hours calls, to minimize downtime.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, including insect rearing rooms, storage areas, and common spaces.
• Ensure that all maintenance supplies and tools are properly stocked and in good working condition.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections.
• Collaborate with insectary staff to understand their needs and address any facility-related concerns.

Requirements

• Vocational training in maintenance or a related field is a plus.
• California driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of equipment and systems.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a similar role within an agricultural or environmental setting.
• Knowledge of pest management and insect care.
