Light Artist - Unity URP for Game Development

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Light Artist - Unity URP to join our dynamic game development team. As a Light Artist, you will be responsible for creating stunning lighting effects and optimizing scenes for both PC and console platforms. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative individual who is passionate about game design and wants to work remotely.

What You'll Do

  • Configure and bake lighting in Unity URP, including lightmaps, light probes, and mixed/baked lighting for PC and console games.
  • Work on scene setups, focusing on both exterior (day/night) and interior environments with artificial lighting.
  • Set up visual effects and post-processing elements such as fog, bloom, volumetric light, color correction, and exposure adjustments.
  • Optimize scenes using Unity's Profiler and Frame Debugger to ensure high performance and frame rates.
  • Understand composition, color theory, and the role of light in guiding player navigation and emphasizing key elements.
  • Collaborate effectively with 3D, Level, and Technical Art teams to ensure the highest quality of visual output.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and FPS of your scenes, ensuring they meet the project's artistic vision.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with Unity, particularly with the Universal Render Pipeline (URP).
  • Strong understanding of rendering techniques and graphical optimization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, especially in a remote work environment.
  • A portfolio showcasing relevant projects and your role in them.
  • Experience with scene optimization and performance monitoring tools.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with lighting in game engines beyond Unity.
  • Knowledge of shader programming.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools for asset creation and manipulation.
