About the Role

We're hiring a Lead Software Development Engineer (remote) to join Audible’s Consumer Domains group. This role is pivotal in creating and powering Audible’s applications, components, and services for our global listeners. You will be part of a dynamic team that collaborates closely with Audible and Amazon tech teams, Product, UX, and QA teams to build exceptional software experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Determine the strategy for simplifying or extending solutions to achieve the best outcomes while driving best practices.
  • Mentor and lead developers, fostering curiosity and deep technical understanding within the team.
  • Explore technical needs and propose innovative solutions that enhance our software offerings.
  • Set the technical strategy for your team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design, develop, test, and launch scalable and maintainable software that significantly impacts our customers.
  • Independently clarify technical requirements, assess development estimates, and apply a wide range of design approaches.
  • Drive continuous improvement in software quality, customer experience, and maintainability of products/features.
  • Stay updated on technology trends, tools, and best practices to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Lead Software Development Engineer with a strong focus on web application development.
  • Expertise in software design and architecture, particularly in cloud-based environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO, security practices, and web services (SNS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch).
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and experience with REST services.
  • Ability to mentor and lead a team of developers effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for delivering high-quality software.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning in the tech landscape.
