What You'll Do

• Cover breaking news events and write quickly and accurately on tight deadlines as a Freelance Night and Weekend Editor.
• Edit live blogs across various sports, including NFL and college football, ensuring high-quality content.
• Write compelling stories around FOX and FS1 shows, podcasts, and digital content.
• Identify and pitch trending stories, both quick-turn and long-form, to keep our audience engaged.
• Run the news desk, assigning and editing stories to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Collaborate with editors, writers, and social media teams to enhance content reach.
• Engage fans through FOX Sports’ products, fostering a strong community.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in sports journalism is required.
• Strong knowledge of AP style and writing style is essential.
• Flexibility to work holidays as needed to cover major sports events.
• 3+ years of newsroom experience covering sports, demonstrating your expertise.
• Strong interest and knowledge of sports across various verticals.
• Familiarity with FOX Sports properties is a plus.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure effectively.
• Flexible schedule for nights and weekends to accommodate sports events.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is preferred.
• Copyediting training/experience is a plus for this Freelance Night and Weekend Editor role.
