Founding Senior Principal Engineer - AI Infrastructure (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking a Founding Senior Principal Engineer - AI Infrastructure to join our innovative team at Nivalto. This is a unique opportunity to work remotely while being at the forefront of developing critical infrastructure for AI agents. As a Founding Senior Principal Engineer, you will lead the engineering efforts to create a robust platform that supports the burgeoning AI agent economy, projected to be a $400B+ market by 2030.
What You'll Do
- Take ownership of the architecture and execution of core systems that govern AI agent workflows and policy-aware payments.
- Design and implement secure, high-performance execution environments for AI agents.
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and VP of Product to ensure alignment on technical execution and buyer readiness.
- Write production code and establish engineering standards that ensure compliance and security.
- Lead the development of the Agent ROA Protocol, ensuring it meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building and leading complex systems as a senior individual contributor.
- Proven track record in early-stage or founding environments, demonstrating the ability to impose engineering discipline on fast-moving builds.
- Strong backend/platform skills, including APIs, distributed systems, and reliability patterns.
- Experience in security-minded implementations, including signing/verifying and key management concepts.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to write clear specifications and design documents.
Nice to Have
- Experience in payments orchestration or high-integrity transaction systems.
- Familiarity with regulated domains such as banking, healthcare, or trading.
- Participation in industry standards organizations like IETF or CNCF.
