Forward Deployed Software Engineer - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to join our mission-driven team at TRM Labs. As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer remote, you will play a crucial role in building and deploying solutions that protect civilization. This position is designed for individuals with exceptional aptitude, rapid learning ability, and a bias toward action. You will operate at the intersection of TRM’s technology and our government customers’ most critical missions, tackling challenges such as human trafficking, financial fraud, and terrorist financing.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deploy greenfield technical solutions, transforming prototypes into production systems across diverse technology stacks.
• Learn and apply new skills rapidly, whether building AI-powered applications, designing data pipelines, or integrating with secure government environments.
• Serve as a technical partner to mission stakeholders, translating ambiguous needs into actionable engineering work.
• Own end-to-end delivery, including requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Create clarity and momentum in high-stakes settings, removing blockers and driving solutions forward with urgency.

Requirements

• Background in fullstack or backend engineering using technologies such as NodeJS, Python, Postgres/SQL, and React.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language and the ability to quickly learn others.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies rapidly, including cloud platforms and AI/ML tools.
• Evidence of high ownership: you set goals, execute with urgency, and deliver outcomes in ambiguous environments.
• Comfort working across the stack, from backend code to cloud infrastructure.

Nice to Have

• Experience with distributed systems and data processing frameworks.
• Familiarity with security protocols and government compliance standards.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
