Chief Editor for Contemporary Genre Fiction - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Chief Editor for Contemporary Genre Fiction to join our remote team. In this role, you will oversee the portfolio development for your genre, including project selection, approval, and marketing strategies for both translated and Russian-language books. As a Chief Editor, you will play a crucial role in launching new book directions in the market and developing quarterly editorial strategies aligned with business goals.

What You'll Do

• Manage the portfolio budget and ensure target metrics are met, including turnover and profitability.
• Conduct regular sales analysis and market research to inform editorial decisions.
• Participate in online meetings with management, editorial teams, and related departments to ensure alignment on projects.
• Engage in promotional events and external communications with partners and media representatives.
• Prepare reports on completed work as requested by management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in publishing, preferably as a senior editor or project leader.
• Proven track record of selecting and launching successful book projects.
• Strong knowledge of both foreign and Russian literary markets, including genres and trends.
• Familiarity with printing and editorial processes.
• Experience in conducting marketing research and establishing long-term partnerships.

Nice to Have

• Experience negotiating with authors and contractors.
• Understanding of copyright and related rights.
• Experience in developing high-circulation books or successful book series.
