About the Role

We are seeking a Chief Editor for Contemporary Genre Fiction to join our dynamic team remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for curating and managing a portfolio of contemporary genre fiction projects. As a Chief Editor, you will lead the selection and approval of projects, ensuring they align with our editorial strategy and market trends.

What You'll Do

• Oversee the development and marketing packaging of translated and Russian-language books.
• Launch new book directions into the market and develop quarterly editorial strategies.
• Manage the budget for your portfolio, ensuring targets for turnover and profitability are met.
• Conduct regular sales analysis and market research to inform project decisions.
• Participate in online meetings with leadership and editorial teams to align on objectives.
• Engage in promotional events and external communications with partners and media representatives.
• Prepare detailed reports on project progress as requested by management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in publishing as a leading editor or chief editor.
• Proven track record of selecting and successfully launching book projects.
• In-depth knowledge of the contemporary fiction market, including genres and trends.
• Familiarity with printing and editorial processes.
• Experience with marketing research tools and techniques.
• Strong negotiation skills with authors and contractors.
• Understanding of copyright and related rights.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
