About the Role

Flinders University is seeking a distinguished Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to lead innovative research initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced researcher to contribute to national priority areas, including advanced manufacturing and sustainable energy systems. As an Associate Professor in AI and Machine Learning, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the research direction of the College, attracting significant external funding, and mentoring the next generation of researchers.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and advance research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, focusing on impactful applications.
  • Attract substantial external funding and foster international collaborations.
  • Mentor early and mid-career researchers, guiding them in their professional development.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision of the College of Science and Engineering.
  • Engage with industry, government, and academic partners to enhance research impact.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent in AI, ML, or a closely related discipline.
  • Outstanding research track record with high-quality publications and competitive grant success.
  • Experience in strategic leadership and management of research programs.
  • Strong history of international collaboration and engagement in AI/ML research.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property and ethical research practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in mentoring Higher Degree Research students.
  • Familiarity with research commercialization.
  • Engagement in public outreach and education in AI and ML.
