About the Role
AWP Safety is seeking a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Intern - Remote to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a hands-on, high-impact learning experience designed for early-career professionals eager to build a future in IT Site Reliability Engineering. As an intern, you will not just observe application performance; you will actively contribute to building observability pipelines that ensure our infrastructure and applications remain resilient, highly available, and robust.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain observability pipelines using Dynatrace to monitor application performance.
- Participate in incident lifecycle management, including attending blameless post-mortems and implementing “never-twice” fixes.
- Utilize AIOps to leverage predictive AI for identifying potential outages before they occur.
- Manage monitoring for thousands of hosts efficiently without manual intervention.
- Engage in workshops, panels, and networking events to enhance your professional development.
- Contribute to our “Journey-to-the-Job” series, gaining insights from seasoned executives about their career paths.
Requirements
- Current rising junior/senior or master’s student in a related field.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in fast-paced operational environments.
- Systems thinking: ability to understand interactions between web apps, databases, and networks.
- Adopt an SRE mindset, focusing on reliability, scalability, and error budgets.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Go, or PowerShell.
- Basic understanding of cloud technologies, including containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and microservices patterns.
- Ability to read metrics, logs, and traces to assess system health and performance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with incident management tools.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
