About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer remote to join our innovative team at BILL. This role is pivotal in empowering businesses by enhancing financial automation and ensuring the stability of our Oracle and cloud-native ecosystems. As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our mission-critical database systems.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Oracle databases, focusing on performance tuning, security, and access control.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers and Architects to design, implement, and scale database engines that support the BILL suite of applications.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to automate database management processes, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Implement real-time monitoring solutions using tools like Foglight, DataDog, Splunk, and CloudWatch.
  • Drive the modernization of enterprise database stacks through automation and scripting, reducing manual toil.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in database engineering with a strong focus on Oracle (19c or later).
  • 3+ years managing Oracle databases on AWS (RDS Custom or EC2).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or advanced scripting with Python.
  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data integration and migration.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps methodologies.

Nice to Have

  • Oracle Certification (OCP or OCM).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB.
  • AWS Certification - Database Specialty.
