About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Database Administrator to join our dynamic team at MariaDB. As a Remote Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing our cloud database solutions, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for our clients. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of customers and tackle unique challenges every day.

What You'll Do

  • Perform DBA activities remotely with customers around the world, ensuring their database systems are running smoothly.
  • Automate various DBA tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workload.
  • Set up monitoring and other activities on customer servers to proactively identify issues.
  • Conduct periodic health checks and generate reports on customer systems to maintain high performance.
  • Participate in the community by blogging and engaging on social media to share knowledge and insights.
  • Collaborate with the MariaDB team to build tools and enhancements around MariaDB.
  • Help improve practices and methodologies for the Remote DBA team, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Be on call as needed to guarantee customer SLAs, providing support during critical times.

Requirements

  • Passion for serving customers and solving technical problems.
  • Experience with cloud database management and administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
  • Prior experience with MariaDB or similar database technologies is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a virtual team environment.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting.
  • Knowledge of best practices in database security and performance tuning.
