Operations Officer - Remote Support for Human Rights Advocacy

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Operations Officer to join our team at Human Rights Watch. This Operations Officer remote position will support the efficient running of our Stockholm and Copenhagen offices, ensuring that our operations align with our mission of promoting human rights globally.

What You'll Do

• Act as the local Finance representative, managing bank accounts and cash flows for our Scandinavian and Norway Foundations.
• Assist in establishing and monitoring office budgets, processing financial transactions, and running financial reports.
• Support legal and governance issues, ensuring compliance with local laws and preparing necessary documentation for board meetings.
• Act as the local HR representative, assisting with recruitment, payroll, and compliance with employment laws.
• Maintain the smooth functioning of the office, handling maintenance issues and engaging with suppliers.
• Liaise with IT to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure seamless communication.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of operations or administrative experience, preferably in a global organization.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and financial skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English and Swedish.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and a good understanding of local employment laws.

Nice to Have

• Experience in nonprofit management or human resources.
• Proficiency in additional languages, particularly other Scandinavian languages.
