Map /​ Cartography Artist (2D) - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Map / Cartography Artist (2D) remote to join our creative team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create immersive world maps and locations for a fantasy project, contributing to the visual storytelling of our game. Your artistic skills will help shape the landscapes, cities, and symbols that define our game universe.

What You'll Do

• Create detailed game maps and locations for a fantasy project.
• Develop the visual language of the map, including terrain, nature, cities, and symbols.
• Design heraldry, including coats of arms, faction symbols, and decorative frames.
• Work with typography to label regions, cities, rivers, and legends on the map.
• Prepare final maps for use in the game, refining them based on feedback from the art director and UI team.
• Maintain a relevant portfolio showcasing maps for games, books, or tabletop RPGs.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Photoshop or similar editing software.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of composition and cartography principles, ensuring readability and logical landscape representation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Map / Cartography Artist (2D) remote with a strong portfolio.
• Familiarity with creating maps for games, books, or tabletop RPGs.
• Experience in using Photoshop or similar software for map creation.
• Understanding of composition and cartography basics, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively and incorporate feedback effectively.

Nice to Have

• Experience working on CRPGs, tabletop RPGs, or related projects.
• Knowledge of fantasy lore (D&D, Pathfinder, Middle-Earth, etc.).
• Skills in stylizing maps to resemble antique styles, parchment, or engravings.
• Artistic or relevant educational background with a passion for games and fantasy settings.
