About the Role

We are seeking a Manager, Risk Management and Corporate Strategy to join our team in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in enhancing the preparedness, response, and recovery capabilities of the Province of Nova Scotia. As the Manager, you will lead initiatives that ensure Nova Scotians are safe and resilient in the face of disasters and emergencies.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor your team to achieve the objectives set out for the division, fostering collaboration with stakeholders and partners.
  • Develop and implement standardized risk management methodologies for municipalities and critical infrastructure partners.
  • Provide templates, tools, and guidance to Regional Emergency Management Organizations (REMOs) and Regional Emergency Operations Centres (REOCs).
  • Support the development of business impact analysis and resilience strategies, including mitigating the impacts of evolving risks such as climate change and cybersecurity.
  • Update and modernize the provincial business continuity management policy and program.
  • Ensure effective development, testing, and continuous improvement of departmental BCM plans.
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks to assess risk management and business continuity programs.
  • Prepare strategic briefings and evaluation reports for senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Several years of related experience in risk management, business continuity, or a related field.
  • A university degree in Public Administration, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or Public Policy is an asset.
  • Significant leadership experience in risk management or business continuity management.
  • Experience leading multi-stakeholder networks across government or complex organizations.
  • Strong data analysis and presentation skills for effective decision-making.
  • Exceptional collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Professional certification in Risk Management or Business Continuity (CBCP, MBCP, ISO 22301).
  • Certification in Emergency Management (CEM) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with municipalities or critical infrastructure sectors.
